Your Role at Baxter As a Welder, you play a critical role in ensuring that life‑sustaining products are made safely and on time. You will work quickly, address questions, and encourage teammates in a fast‑paced, teamwork‑centric environment. You will be happiest when you are moving and we will not disappoint.

What You’ll Be Doing

Check during assembly for proper weld location and size, proper fit, and operation of sliding or rotating parts. Make repairs when necessary. Identify and remove or repair weld spatter, burn‑thru, and other visible weld defects. May require use of oxy‑acetylene or plasma arc cutting torches or an automatic programmable welder. Check completed work per job instructions and print specifications. Properly set and adjust all welding parameters to maintain quality welds. Also load and assist in welding wire (spool) changes.

Perform all job set‑ups, rework on painted parts and finished products, and be willing to perform all other operations in the department. Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance of welding equipment and fixtures.

May be required to record measurements. Clean and change torch tips and nozzles, and clean conductors or lines with solvent as required. Clean or change helmet lenses as necessary.

Report labor. Move completed parts to designated areas. Move stock to and from workstations, stock racks and holding areas. May be required to rack and un‑rack parts. Responsible for schedule adherence, safety, housekeeping, rejects, and productivity applicable per Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s).

Responsible for both quality and quantity of work: Participate in team activities and problem‑solving sessions as required. Communicate problems and/or solutions to appropriate team member. Follow processes and procedures as written. Document and/or chart production data to aid in problem identification, quality feedback, and production scheduling. Troubleshoot problems and repair when necessary. Train, instruct, and assist other operators in their duties as required to ensure quality product and smooth flow.

Evaluate defective material and tooling, faulty operations, questionable conditions and potential work stoppages. Advise and recommend alternatives to appropriate person. May require the use of a computer and telecommunication device. Ensure that the work area and equipment are maintained in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Follow prescribed safety regulations.

Participate in any additional work assignments not mentioned here, in accordance with the assigned job grade.

What You’ll Bring

Successfully complete GMAW School (preferred)

High School Diploma or GED (applies to anyone hired after 1997)
