Role Overview A highly qualified and detail‑oriented admissions legal/sales coordinator is needed to support student enrollment while ensuring compliance with all legal and procedural requirements related to student placement and retention. This is a hybrid position that requires in‑person reporting to the Brooklyn campus one to two days per week for tours and parent visits, with the remainder of work conducted remotely. The candidate must be willing to travel to other NY school locations as needed.
Legal & Compliance Support
Ensure organizational compliance with all legal and procedural requirements related to student placement, enrollment, and retention.
Provide legal and procedural guidance to families, staff, and administrators throughout the enrollment and placement process.
Prepare, review, and manage all contractual agreements for families and school districts, including Ten‑Day Notices, ensuring accuracy and timely receipt.
Collaborate with special education attorneys to review documentation, evaluate case details, and ensure legal readiness for hearings or settlements.
Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant student files in accordance with legal, district, and organizational standards.
Support due process activities, including familiarity with the Impartial Hearing process.
Admissions & Sales Support
Maintain consistent communication with attorneys, families, and internal teams regarding enrollment status, documentation requirements, and due process matters.
Partner closely with Admissions and Transportation Coordinators to ensure smooth, compliant enrollment and service transitions.
Conduct parent tours and screens.
Provide onsite admissions support for the Brooklyn campus.
Participate in new student meetings with Brooklyn campus staff.
Perform additional admissions‑related duties as needed.
Utilize internal sales experience to manage expectations, track the funnel, and support census goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or paralegal certification preferred.
Internal sales experience required, including managing expectations, funnel activity, and census numbers.
Legal, admissions, or compliance experience in a special education or related educational setting required.
Strong understanding of IEPs, neuropsychological evaluations, and related documentation.
Knowledge of IDEA and FAPE required.
Knowledge of New York City and Long Island special education environments, including DOE and district procedures.
Experience working with referral and non‑referral schools; ABA school experience preferred.
Familiarity with the Impartial Hearing process and special education legal proceedings.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with families, attorneys, and internal teams.
Ability to connect with parents and staff and effectively represent and “sell” the Gersh program to families and attorneys.
