Youth Support Specialist – Mishawaka Are you looking for a rewarding part‑time job on evenings and weekends? We are hiring Youth Support Specialists to work 3‑20 hours per week at our Mishawaka campus. This is an opportunity to mentor and assist youth with daily living activities, outdoor fun, arts and crafts and more. This is a great fit for adults who are caring, fun and enjoy helping others.

Oaklawn is the leading provider of mental health and addiction services in Elkhart, Goshen, South Bend, Mishawaka and the surrounding communities of northern Indiana. We serve 27,000 children, adolescents and adults annually through treatment that spans the continuum of care. Our services range from skills training and case management to outpatient therapy and inpatient care, specializing in complex cases.

Hourly rate $17.04.

$1.75 weekend shift differential.

What You’ll Do

Multiple openings for 5‑8 p.m. and 8‑11 p.m. weekdays and all times on the weekend, starting with three‑hour shifts.

Complete 30+ hours of paid training. Training schedule is flexible with a blended learning model (classroom and virtual).

Job Duties

Build and maintain positive rapport with youth.

Respond quickly and effectively to highly stressful situations.

Stress management and conflict resolution skills (training provided).

Accompany youth to cafeteria during mealtimes.

Engage in outside activities such as sporting games, walks, etc.

Encourage and promote workout time.

Participate in inside sports and games in the main gym.

Engage youth in arts and crafts.

Support youth in daily chores such as laundry and cleaning.

Encourage youth to follow unit rules and structure.

Provide problem‑solving tutoring to help clients cope with their struggles.

Teach and encourage communication and use of coping skills.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Valid driver’s license recommended.
