Job Summary Fulltime 7p-7a

28 bed Med surg with focus on Post Surgical patients - overflow to general med surg and telemetry patients

Magnet Designated campus / Straight A Leapfrog designated for patient safety / Prism award for med surg excellence in a 4 STAR CMS campus for patient satisfaction - Positive energy and enthusiasm for quality care and empathy is required.

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care.

They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model.

The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research.

RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.

As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Exemplary Practice and Outcomes Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care plans.

Provides relationship‑based patient centered care adapted to population specific characteristics.

Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods (bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, just‑in‑time and planned patient teaching) keeping patient goals the focus of the care plan.

Practices using current clinical practice standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration

– Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care, facilitates inclusive interdisciplinary communication, completes timely documentation, and promotes a respectful environment.

Demonstrates teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and promoting recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.

Participates in performance improvement and research, including initiating or leading activities, supporting shared governance at all levels, and applying evidence‑based practice.

Professional Development and Initiative

– Completes competency assessments and mandatory education, mentors other nurses, and contributes to workforce development.

Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement, including value analysis and data collection.

Phases or consults appropriate experts and uses appropriate resources to address practice questions.

Proactively plans for the care of patients across the care continuum during direct care duties.

Participates in protocol development to achieve best‑practice outcomes.

Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education

Associate’s Nursing or Diploma (Nurse); Bachelor's Nursing – Preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)

RN – Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN – Multi‑state Compact

BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor

Additional License(s) and Certification(s) All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

Required Minimum Experience Minimum 2 years direct patient care nursing experience.

Required Minimum Skills Ability to read, write, and speak English, optimize the use of technology to support clinical care, and possess basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills. Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed, and respectful manner. Excellent time‑management skills and evidence‑based practice application with strong critical thinking.
