Job Details Temporary assignments may be filled at any time; only competitive applicants selected will be contacted and provided with instructions for the continued application process. Please no phone calls or emails. The projected end date for this part‑time assignment is September 01, 2026. The selected candidate must have a valid Texas driver's license and a clean driving record.

Purpose The ideal candidate will walk/drive around Main Campus, JJ Pickle, and select satellite locations in Austin, inspecting the Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) located at building entrances and throughout the buildings. Each AED has a QR code that can be scanned with a cell phone or tablet (a tablet will be provided if preferred). Once scanned, the QR code leads to a form that requires confirmation that the AED is present, not damaged, and has a blinking light.

Responsibilities

Candidate will walk/drive around Main Campus, JJ Pickle, and select satellite locations in Austin and go to every building, inspecting the Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) located at building entrances and throughout the building. Each AED has a QR code that can be scanned with a cell phone or tablet (tablet provided if they prefer). Once scanned, the QR code leads to a form that requires you to confirm that the AED is present, not damaged, and has a blinking light.

The form is then submitted, and the data is sent to our tracking spreadsheet. We have approximately 300 AEDs around campus, each of which must be checked monthly. Some AEDs may require a battery change or pad replacement, so we would like personnel to change parts as needed, though this should be minimal. Detailed training and documentation are provided for all aspects of the job. Drive a UT cart as needed.

Required Qualifications High‑school graduate or GED. Regular and punctual attendance is a must. Must be able to walk a block or two comfortably, stand for short periods, and drive a UT cart around campus. The candidate must be detail‑oriented and reliable, as this is a monthly responsibility. Some lifting of small weight, stooping, or kneeling may be necessary.

Preferred Qualifications Experience in medical equipment inspection preferred, but not required.

Driving Required This job requires a class “C” operator’s driver’s license. The selected applicant must provide a current three‑year driving record from the state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre‑employment, post‑accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return‑to‑duty, and follow‑up).

Hourly Rate $25.00

Any reasonable attire is acceptable, as the job will involve walking and being outside for extended periods of time; shorts and tank tops are fine. No holes in clothing or offensive messaging.
