The pay range for this position is $38.50‑$41.00/hr.
The
Registered Nurse (RN) House Float
is responsible to ensure that high quality of nursing care is delivered in an efficient and effective manner. They supervise and coordinate activities of nursing personnel on assigned unit as well as manage resident care through MDS, care planning process, and resident assessments/observations. Essential Functions of a Registered Nurse (RN) House Float
Makes rounds to all residents/patients at least twice a shift and PRN.
Investigates employee problems/incidents; deals with them according to procedure.
Notifies the RN Supervisor of resident/patient problems (medical, physical, psychological, family, and physician).
Makes rounds with the physician, calls physicians for changes in resident condition (after notifying RN Supervisor) and transcribes physician orders.
Handles resident incidents, emergencies, transfers, admissions and deaths, according to procedure and with the assistance of the supervisor.
Participates in the care planning process.
Completes all required documentation and paperwork, i.e. Nurse’s Notes, summaries, flow sheets, etc. Completes specific duties as required by shift assignment (i.e. night nurse checks each medical record for any outstanding orders).
Checks emergency equipment at beginning of shift.
Counts controlled medications with outgoing and on‑coming nurses according to procedure.
Passes scheduled and PRN Medications for each resident; evaluates the need and efficacy of PRN medications.
Follows all policies and procedures for administering and documenting medications.
Checks orders for accuracy.
Calls the pharmacy on drugs which need to be reordered.
Calls the pharmacy on any discrepancies in medications and documents same and notifies RN.
Keeps the medication room and medication cart clean and in proper order.
Assists charge nurse with summaries, charting, other duties as directed.
Directs and supervises direct care staff.
Monitors meals in the Unit dining room and/or Main Dining Room.
Assists with transcribing physician orders.
Makes rounds with physicians in the absence of another nurse or as assigned.
Contributes to the care plan for residents/patients.
Administers resident/patient treatments as per physician and/or nursing order.
Evaluates the need of PRN treatments for each resident/patient.
Follows all policies and procedures for administering and documenting treatments.
Maintains treatment cart(s) in clean and appropriate order.
Physical Requirements of a Registered Nurse (RN) House Float
Requires movement throughout entire unit.
Must be able to lift and transport equipment.
Must be able to lift and turn residents as needed.
Requires ability to keyboard utilizing computerized medical record program.
Registered Nurse (RN) Qualifications
Must have valid REGISTERED NURSE (RN) State License NY.
Skilled Nursing Experience Preferred.
Job Summary The Registered Nurse ( RN ) is responsible to plan and deliver nursing care to patients/residents requiring long‑term and/or rehabilitative care.
Major Duties and Critical Tasks
Works using the guidelines established by the Nurse Practice Act, facility Policies and Procedures, and sound nursing judgment.
Assesses, plans and evaluates nursing care delivered to patients/residents requiring long‑term and/or rehabilitation care.
Delivers nursing care to patients/residents requiring long‑term and/or rehabilitative care.
Implements the patient/resident plan of care and evaluates the patient/resident response.
Directs and supervises care provided by other nursing personnel.
Provides input in the formulation and evaluation of standards of care.
Maintains knowledge of necessary documentation requirements.
Maintains knowledge of equipment set‑up, maintenance and use (e.g. monitors, infusion devices, drain devices, etc.).
Maintains confidentiality and compliance with patient/resident rights, relating to all patient/resident/personnel information.
Provides patient/resident/family/caregiver education as appropriate and/or directed.
Conducts self in a professional manner in compliance with unit and facility policies.
Works rotating shifts, holidays and weekends as scheduled.
Required Education and Experience
Must be a graduate of a basic education program in professional nursing.
A minimum of one year medical/surgical nursing experience in an acute care (hospital) setting or long‑term care setting (acute/critical care is preferred).
Must possess a current Registered Nurse ( RN ) license in state(s) of practice. Must have a reliable source of transportation.
