New Store - Grocery Team Member (Stocker, Inventory, Floor Service, Customer Service)
Location:
Holbrook, NY (Winter 2026) – Part‑time
Base Pay Range $17.50 per hour – $25.40 per hour (commensurate with experience)
Job Responsibilities
Keep a fresh and appealing display by cleaning shelves, checking barcodes, rotating and removing out‑of‑date products.
Stock and clean grocery shelves, bulk bins, frozen and dairy cases.
Monitor and prevent spoilage; communicate waste to buyers, Team Leaders, and shift supervisor.
Maintain back‑stock in good order.
Assist with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing.
Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature and sweep worksheets as required.
Assist with periodic inventory checks.
Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.
Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner, model suggestive selling techniques; answer phones and pages promptly and courteously.
Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking and merchandising product.
Follow and ensure compliance with established procedures, including Weights & Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
Maintain, or ensure maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain equipment in accordance with Whole Foods Market cleanliness and safety standards.
Perform opening, mid‑shift and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.
Immediately report safety hazards and violations.
Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional or national leadership.
Job Skills / Qualifications
Proactive selling skills.
Basic knowledge of all products carried in the department.
Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
Proactive reading of labels and familiarity with various products.
Ability to perform simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
Ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully to fellow Team Members, customers and vendors.
Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions.
Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time‑management and organizational skills.
Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market.
Strong work ethic; ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with a sense of urgency.

Experience No prior retail experience required.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Stand/walk 6‑8 hours per shift; use of hand for single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
Perform bending, twisting, squatting and reaching motions.
Exposure to FDA‑approved cleaning chemicals.
Exposure to temperatures
90°F.
Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks and other heavy machinery.
