REMOTE Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Specialist We are seeking a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Specialist to support one of the country’s premier defense research organizations.

About the Role The team is looking for a specialist to support the CMDB including inventory, service mapping, and service observability through the SolarWinds platform. The ideal candidate will ensure all IT assets, configurations, and service dependencies are accurately tracked and up-to-date, maintaining a comprehensive inventory that supports better decision‑making and faster incident resolution. This position involves administering the CMDB, responding to user questions, updating documentation, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to maintain compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

Drive data quality standards and identify & implement process improvements.

Ensure an accurate representation of assets and services in ServiceNow.

Administer the CMDB and update documentation as needed.

Communicate effectively with system administrators and CMDB users.

Required Qualifications

Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain an Active Secret Clearance (Active Secret is highly preferred).

Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain personal security clearance, including SCI acquisition.

Remote work with willingness to travel to Massachusetts as needed.

3 years of experience in Data/Reporting.

3 years of experience in Data Analysis.

1 year of experience with Agile Methodologies.

3 years of experience in Program/Project Management or Analysis.

3 years of experience reviewing Specification Requirements.

2 years translating Business Requirements into Technical Specifications.

2 years understanding and executing Project Requirements.

Excellent problem‑solving skills.

Strong customer service skills and communication.

3 years of experience with ServiceNow IT Service Management.

4 years of experience with ServiceNow Multisource CMDB Administration.

2 years of experience with Software Tools.

2 years of experience with ServiceNow.

4 years basic understanding of IT System Administrator processes and terminology.

2 years of writing/editing experience.

2 years of technical documentation experience.

Nice to Have

Bachelor’s Degree.

Experience in application and infrastructure monitoring (system performance, identifying issues, troubleshooting).

Currently holds a Secret Clearance (or higher).

ServiceNow Development experience.

ServiceNow ITSM Development experience.

Experience with Software Development Life Cycle Models (Agile).

Experience integrating alerts into ServiceNow (ITOM).

Logging and Monitoring experience with SolarWinds, ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Datadog.
