What You Will Be Doing Criminal Justice Technician 2 (CJT2) is the sole administrative support for the Tok Post, assisting the public, sergeant, and three (3) troopers and serving as the Post's evidence custodian. Administrative duties include:

Reception duties in person and by phone

Accurate data entry into criminal databases

Processing criminal paperwork

Collecting fees and reconciling cash

Ensuring payroll is completed correctly and timely

Ordering and maintaining post supplies

Evidence custodian duties include:

Receiving, storing, and managing property

Maintaining the chain of custody for all evidence including weapons, drugs, paraphernalia, currency, sensitive documents, vehicles, and biohazard materials

Providing evidentiary discovery to the District Attorney's Office

As a CJT2 you will have full proficiency in chain of custody duties.

Working Conditions Co-located with DMV at 1314 Alaska Highway, Tok Trooper Post has a private entrance. The CJT2 desk is in an open area behind the public counter, near the sergeant's office and trooper squad room but separated from the prisoner holding cells. The public counter is separated by a window and the front door can be locked and unlocked remotely. You will often be the only person in the office with troopers in and out throughout your day.

Additional Qualifications and Experience Successful completion of the Criminal Justice Technician Level 1–2 flexible staffing training plan with the State of Alaska. OR any combination of education and/or experience that provides the following competencies:

Reasoning

Equivalent experience in criminal justice, juvenile justice, probation, parole, public safety, law enforcement, corrections, court, legal services, social services, or public assistance is acceptable.

Three professional references, two from a current or former supervisor.

Last two performance evaluations, if available.

A copy of academic transcripts (unofficial acceptable).

Firearms Position requires use or possession of a firearm. A misdemeanor domestic violence conviction makes you ineligible.

Background Check Applicants must submit to a fingerprint-based criminal history background check. Any criminal convictions disqualify the applicant.

Confidentiality Agreement Successful candidate must sign a confidentiality agreement concerning work within the Department of Public Safety.

Education Transcripts are required to verify educational credentials used to meet required qualifications. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable as long as institution name/URL is listed.

Work Experience Applicants must document all work experience, including employer name, title, dates, and full/part-time status. Incomplete packages will not advance.
