Base pay range $98,417.00/yr - $149,655.00/yr
Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval – award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Duties
The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers
This is an approach to healthcare that empowers and equips people to take charge of their health and well‑being and live their lives to the fullest
As an employee operating in a Whole Health System of care you will operate in a model with three core elements – seeking to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran
This is done in the context of healing relationships and healing environments and a connection back to the Veteran's community
This aligns with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Mission Statement to honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional health care that improves their health and wellbeing
It is the responsibility of the Physician Assistant to participate in – and assume partial responsibility for – the evaluation and treatment of veterans for psychiatric evaluation and/or treatment services
In these capacities the incumbent applies a wide range of professional knowledge of the usage of psychiatric medication principles – as well as the utilization of methods and techniques to assist patients with their psychiatric problems
In addition the incumbent participates in multidisciplinary conferences to develop appropriate treatment plans, goals, and objectives for patients
This work will be done according to professional guidelines and in accordance with requirements of the VAHCS and accrediting bodies including JCAHO and OIG
Duties include: focus on individuals who present to the Primary Care Clinic with concerns related to their mental health
Work closely with providers in Primary Care in the main Sioux Falls facility and within the Community‑Based out‑patient Clinics (CBOCs)
Management is done under the supervision of a psychiatrist and will be done in either an individual or group setting; utilize therapeutic techniques in addition to medication to assist in the care of the patient
Treat walk‑in patients in Primary Care as well as patients known to the Mental Health Service line
