This full‑service Emergency Department (ED) is staffed and designed to provide quick and easy access for adults and children. The Paramedic’s role is to assess urgent medical needs and stabilize patients while providing advanced life support.
A caregiver in this position works part‑time day/evening rotation from 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.
Responsibilities
Assist in patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Obtain and record vital signs.
Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy, and oral, nasal, and ET suctioning.
Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, and saline locks.
Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.
Apply orthopedic appliances and simple splints.
Size crutches and teach patients how to walk with them.
Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, lumbar puncture, and other procedures.
Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices.
Transport patients and specimens.
Assist with sterile procedures and clean supplies and equipment.
Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy.
Perform fluid/drug administration.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of an accredited EMS‑Paramedic training program.
Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician‑Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the AHA or American Red Cross.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the AHA or American Red Cross.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the AHA or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year.
Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program.
Preferred Qualifications
International Trauma Life Support (ITLS).
One year of experience as an EMT‑P.
Experience in a hospital setting or city ambulance.
Physical Requirements
Full body motion to move and lift patients; manual finger dexterity with good eye‑hand coordination; extensive standing and walking.
Medium work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Physical demands exceed those for light work.
Personal Protective Equipment
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range Minimum hourly: $22.00 Maximum hourly: $32.00 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires, not including shift differentials, overtime, or Cleveland Clinic benefits.
