As a Paramedic, you will provide immediate medical treatment to patients presenting with various critical injuries, illnesses and concerns. In this role, fast thinking and processing are essential, as every second counts in an emergency. Your tireless efforts help improve outcomes and make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, their families and your fellow caregivers.
A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00pm to 3:30am. Further requirements include every other weekend and every other holiday. No on-call hours.
Responsibilities
Provide patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of an RN.
Obtain and record vital signs.
Perform EKGs, CPR and phlebotomy and oral, nasal and/or ET suctioning.
Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.
Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.
Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints.
Size crutches and teach crutch walking.
Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc.
Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices.
Transport patients and specimens.
Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning/maintaining supplies and equipment.
Perform fluid/drug administration.
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic Training Program
Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic Training Program
Preferred Qualifications
International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Certification
One year of experience as an EMT-P
Experience in a hospital setting or city ambulance
Physical Requirements
Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range Minimum hourly: $22.00 Maximum hourly: $32.00
