Summary of Job Duties: *This is a PRN position*
The Orthopedic Technician provides professional and competent assistance to physicians in the clinic. Assists with the application and management of casts, splints, and braces with Residents. Instructs patients on the proper care of casts, braces, etc to patients.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED, plus one year of direct patient care experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Medical Assistant or Orthopedic Tech experience.
BLS required. Must obtain within 90 days of hire date and maintain certification
Responsibilities:
Provides professional and competent assistance to physicians with the application and management of casts for orthopedic patients.
Educates patients regarding casts, splints, or braces following application.
Collects and records patients' medical history and acquires patients' vital signs. Advises patients regarding treatment, medication, and specific physician instructions.
Collects lab samples and completes documentation submission to the lab.
Monitors inventory of and obtains necessary supplies and/or equipment for patient care in the orthopedic unit.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experience
