Position Summary The ER Technician acts as an adjunct to registered nursing and supporting staff in providing clinical care as approved by their licensure. They provide support to peers, patients, and families and perform all aspects of ER Tech performance to support service excellence and a healing environment. The ER Tech identifies and communicates needed unit resources or equipment to the appropriate person in charge.

Education & Experience

Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing (LPN), EMT or Paramedic program.

Current licensure / certification in the state of Florida, ACLS, BLS and PALS from the American Heart Association.

Previous hospital experience preferred.

LPNs and EMTs must be certified to start IVs in the State of FL, and enrolled in an approved State of Florida Cardiac Rhythm monitoring course within 90 days of employment.

Physical Requirements

Hand and wrist: test both sides with a dynamometer force >10 lbs for 10 seconds; pinch thumb & forefinger >2 lbs for 10 seconds.

Supported elbows: rotate wrist left to right while holding a 10‑lb weight; flex and extend elbow with a 10‑lb weight.

Shoulders: sustain shoulder flexion >135° while holding a 10‑lb weight; sustain a shoulder shrug with a 10‑lb weight in each hand.

Legs: squat and hold for 30 seconds; kneel on one knee (left or right) for one minute.

Push/Pull: push a stationary loaded cart with a pushing force of 40 lbs; pull a stationary loaded cart with a pulling force of 40 lbs.

Carry: carry a 20‑lb weight for 25 feet.

Lifting: weight lifted during test – 35 lbs for females, 50 lbs for males.

Floor to table, waist to above shoulder height: 20‑lb requirement.

Threshold Requirements

Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in‑service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation.

TB/PPD Surveillance Program.

Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
