About the Role This experienced technologist assists with interventional and therapeutic cardiac or electrophysiology procedures including peripheral and coronary angioplasty, stents, rotablators, atherectomy, laser, coronary ultrasound, ablations, and device implantation. The position requires specialized training in cardiovascular catheterization and the ability to exercise critical thinking in a fast‑paced environment, delivering exceptional patient care while adhering to safety standards and guidelines. The technologist is a member of the direct patient care team and is required to be on call.

Qualifications Education

Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s); if the credential/registry was acquired after September 1, 2013, an associate’s degree is required.

Experience

Three years’ experience as a Cath Lab Cardiovascular (CV) Technician or comparable experience.

Licenses and Certifications (Required)

RCIS – Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CCI) or RCES – Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (CCI) and

BLS – Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) – American Heart Association and

ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Instructor (AHA) – American Heart Association.

Skills and Abilities

Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform assigned duties, as determined through ongoing assessments.

Possesses basic computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems to include Hospital/Radiology Information Systems and Office software to maintain patient and exam documents.

Exhibits strong interpersonal and team‑player skills with all levels of the healthcare team, ensuring delivery of excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, physicians, and co‑workers.

Adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision, including organizing workflow and actively participating in problem‑solving.

Is proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform essential functions, especially with activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.

Essential Functions – Service

Performs interventional and therapeutic cardiac and electrophysiology procedures such as peripheral and coronary angioplasty, stents, rotablators, atherectomy, laser, and coronary ultrasound; electrophysiology procedures including ablations and device implantation.

Provides care for patients by executing Cath Lab concepts to maximize performance, including positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors.

Provides direct assistance to physicians during procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.

Essential Functions – Quality/Safety

Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly, properly using patient radiation protection and immobilization during diagnostic procedures.

Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with infection control procedures.

Reports near‑misses and input errors promptly to improve processes and identify trends, contributing to corrective actions and meeting departmental and hospital quality and safety targets.

Ensures all Cath Lab and imaging equipment has had QC performed and is safe prior to use, reporting malfunctions and performing preventive maintenance.

Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures, entering charges at the time of service delivery.
