Dental Hygienist | Full Time | Colonial Heights, VA
We are seeking a skilled and patient-focused Dental Hygienist to join our practice. The ideal candidate is passionate about preventive care, skilled in clinical procedures, and committed to building strong patient relationships. You will play a key role in promoting oral health and supporting the overall treatment plan for each patient.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Care & Preventive Treatment
Perform dental cleanings (prophylaxis), periodontal scaling, and root planning.
Conduct oral cancer screenings and periodontal charting.
Take and process dental X-rays and digital scans.
Apply sealants, fluoride, and desensitizing agents.
Patient Education
Educate patients on proper brushing, flossing, and long-term oral hygiene habits.
Provide nutritional and lifestyle guidance related to oral health.
Treatment Coordination & Documentation
Review and update medical histories and patient records.
Collaborate with the dentist on treatment planning.
Document clinical findings accurately in patient management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft).
Infection Control & Equipment Care
Maintain strict adherence to OSHA, CDC, and HIPAA guidelines.
Clean, sterilize, and prepare instruments and treatment rooms.
Qualifications
Active Licensed Dental Hygienist in Virginia.
Current CPR/BLS certification.
Proficiency in Patient Management Software.
Strong communication and patient care skills.
Ability to work efficiently and professionally in a team environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
