Responsibilities
Perform dental cleanings, including prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing
Take dental radiographs (X-rays)
Conduct periodontal assessments and charting
Apply preventive materials such as fluoride and sealants
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene, nutrition, and preventive care
Review medical and dental histories and update patient records
Identify signs of oral disease and communicate findings to the dentist
Assist the dentist during examinations and treatments as needed
Maintain infection control standards and sterilize instruments
Ensure operatory cleanliness and readiness for each patient
Document all clinical findings and treatments accurately in the patient record
Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and state dental board regulations
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program
Current state Dental Hygienist license
Current CPR/BLS certification
Radiology certification
Knowledge of EagleSoft preferable, not necessary
