What You Will Be Doing
Sets up and maintains assigned bag machines to ensure bags are produced according to customer specifications as detailed on order. Ensures Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance requirements are conformed to at all times during bag production operations.
Sets up bag machines per order specifications and confirms with Quality Control.
Prepares parts and supplies for up-coming orders when possible.
Makes adjustments to the machines as required by Inspector/Packer, Quality Control or as necessary to keep bags within specifications.
Weighs waste at end of order or shift and reports amount to Inspector/Packer.
Keeps Shift Supervisor advised of any problems with machines, bad print, film problems, and/or incorrect bag runs.
Performs those functions necessary to keep the bag machine running, such as getting boxes, mounting rolls, weighing waste at end of order/shift, etc. as time permits.
Keeps all parts and accessories not being used off the floor, and in their proper storage place. Makes sure all punches not being used are returned to their proper place for storage and protection.
Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled.
Assists with physical inventory as requested by Team Leader.
Performs duties of inspector/packer, roll person & utility person, as needed.
Assists in housekeeping of assigned work area.
Able to set-up all types of pouches stand‑up three side seal and side gusset.
Able to do minor maintenance task on machine.
To run samples of all types.
Using hand tools (pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers).
Using power hoists for lifting rolls of materials.
Using pallet jacks both manual and powered.
Cleaning machine surfaces and rollers using solvents and detergents.
Employing manual dexterity and flexibility to reach, lift, stretch, and bend as tasks vary.
Observing, understanding, and analyzing film tension of a moving web and how that relates to wrinkles, machine ability, and seal ability.
Making mechanical adjustments to bars and rollers to both moving and stationary webs of film.
Understanding relationship to heat, dwell, and tension as applies to a stationary web and adjust to maximize seal ability and machine ability.
Scanning roll tickets and/or entering other pertinent information into the computerized Shop Floor system as required.

Requires a thorough knowledge of company bag making process and standards.
Requires ability to read and interpret appropriate aspects of work orders and/or specifications sheets.
Requires good mechanical abilities.
Requires ability to read, write, and measure in inches, mm and cm.
Requires one to two years’ experience as set‑up trainee to become proficient in most aspects of the job.
Normal hand/eye coordination.
Using and understanding personal protective equipment.
Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Manual dexterity and flexibility to reach, lift, stretch, and bend as tasks vary.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
