Responsibilities
Prepare and teach courses in the Warehousing and Forklift Training program, including covering a wide variety of topics and teaching during day, evening, and/or weekend hours.
Develop learner‑centered lesson plans and employ appropriate teaching strategies and instructional materials for diverse learning styles.
Incorporate current technology in classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments.
Create and model a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population.
Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials such as course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices.
Conduct assessments of student learning outcomes in courses and programs.
Participate in professional development activities to maintain currency in the field, including maintaining current credentials or licensures as required.
Participate in professional development opportunities to advance teaching skills and strategies.
Maintain daily oversight of facilities, equipment, and student records, including upkeep of assigned equipment, ensuring safety, and maintaining student records in compliance with deadlines.
Regulate compliance with all applicable college, state, and federal rules and regulations.
Address student concerns in a timely manner, promote retention and persistence, and refer students to campus and community resources as appropriate.
Demonstrate and model the College’s employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility, and teamwork.
Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education Required
Associate’s degree in a related field from a regionally accredited post‑secondary institution.
Ability to complete Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) certification prior to class start date.
Current forklift operator certification.
Education Preferred
Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) certification.
Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) or Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) instructor certification.
Certification as an OSHA instructor.
Experience Required
Two years’ experience working in a warehousing environment.
Teaching and/or industry training experience in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars.
Experience Preferred
More than two years’ experience working in a warehousing environment.
Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.
KSA Required
Multitask, support the vision and mission of the college, adapt to changing procedures, create and maintain a learner‑centered environment, communicate effectively, and implement technology solutions.
KSA Preferred (Department/Job Specific)
Mandatory GTCC trainings upon hire: Reporting Requirements, Discrimination & Anti‑Harassment, Shooter on Campus, Personal Information Protection, Ethics and Social Responsibility, Linking Student Learning Outcomes, Moodle Certification (if teaching online or hybrid).
Physical Demands
Teaching during day, evening, and/or weekend hours.
Typical settings in classroom, computer lab space, or shop space.
May include teaching on the Greensboro, Jamestown, High Point, or Cameron Campus as assigned.
Stand for extended periods of time.
Lift at least 25 pounds.
