Adjunct Faculty Job Description Summary: Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimal learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. They will be responsible for delivering quality instruction and actively participating in college affairs.
The Division of Business, Creative and Performing Arts seeks an energetic, enthusiastic, and collaborative business professional/educator to join as a Part-Time Instructor. Under general supervision, this individual may teach courses designed for transfer and support of career technical programs, including Introduction to Logistics, Transportation Logistics, Distribution Management, Supply Chain Management, Import/Export Management, Purchasing Logistics, and Advanced Global Logistics. The ideal candidate should be prepared to integrate technology skills into the classroom, be available to teach at times and locations that meet student needs, and be committed to working constructively within our programs in a community college setting. Successful applicants will be placed into our adjunct pool for assignment to sections or as substitutes as needed.
Duties/Functions: Teaching
Prepare and teach departmental courses, including:
· Developing learner-centered lesson plans
· Employing teaching strategies and instructional materials tailored to different learning styles
· Incorporating current technology into classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments
· Creating a supportive, diverse learning environment
· Preparing and utilizing instructional support materials such as syllabi and media
· Conducting assessments of student learning outcomes
Professional Development
Maintain professional status by:
· Participating in activities to stay current in the field
· Maintaining necessary credentials or licenses
Administration
Oversee facilities, equipment, and student records, including:
· Upkeep of classrooms and labs
· Ensuring security and safety
· Maintaining student records via technology platforms such as Colleague, WebAdvisor, Moodle
· Complying with regulations
Student Support
Create an environment conducive to student success by:
· Addressing concerns promptly
· Promoting retention and persistence
· Referring students to resources
· Demonstrating employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility, teamwork.
Additional Duties
Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education Required: - Master's Degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management from a regionally accredited institution, or a Master's in a related field with 18 graduate hours in Supply Chain Management courses.
Education Preferred: - Doctoral degree in Business Administration or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Industry certifications such as APICS, ISM, or CSCMP.
