Job Description The Head Golf Professional leads day-to-day golf operations, emphasizing the golfer experience. The role oversees Golf Department staff to ensure exceptional experiences for members and guests, maintaining constant presence across all operations.
Responsibilities
Oversee golf day-to-day operations, including the golf shop, course, tournaments, car fleet, practice facilities, and all golf-related programs.
Hire, train, and supervise competent staff.
Oversee or create weekly staff schedules, timesheets, and payroll.
Organize events and tournaments, including member events.
Work closely with MGA, WGA, and Niners associations.
Promote the resort.
Represent the resort within the local and national golf community through PGA, CGA, and USGA.
Enforce facility rules and regulations for the golf course, golf cars, and other facilities.
Be fiscally responsible for the entire golf operation.
Maintain a close relationship with Golf Course Maintenance managers and staff.
Supervise reservation, POS, and booking systems.
Devote essential hours to networking and building relationships with guests and members.
Coordinate daily, weekly, monthly play with the hotel.
Assist and support golf retail efforts: special orders, merchandising, and fitting events.
Review monthly financials with Director of Golf and adjust as needed.
Work closely with Director of Player Development on instruction programming.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years in the golf industry.
Class A member of the PGA in good standing or passed level II of the PGA/PGM Associate Program.
Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
Strong computer skills and extensive experience with computerized POS and tee time systems.
Thorough understanding of course rotation and tee time arrangement.
Experienced in tournament operations, formats, and rules.
Experienced in golf shop merchandising.
Physical Requirements
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift 35 pounds.
Ability to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel timely.
Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening, hearing, and visual acuity.
Talk and hearing occur continuously in communication with guests, supervisors, and employees.Ability to work in standing and mobile positions for long periods.
Working Environment
Interior and exterior of golf resort, exposure to external weather conditions.
Interior of golf shop, normal office conditions.
