Postdoctoral Fellow – Tulane University School of Medicine
A postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately in the Department of Medicine – Section of Cardiology to conduct research in skeletal muscle biology. The successful candidate will be supervised by Dr. Tadashi Yoshida and Dr. Patrice Delafontaine. The project involves studying the changes in skeletal muscle molecular signaling pathways, physiology and function in multiple chronic disease models including cardiovascular disease and cancer. The position involves both in vitro and in vivo studies. Experience in both basic molecular biology and in handling rodents is highly desirable.
We seek a highly motivated, proactive and collaborative individual. This job involves designing and conducting research projects, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, presenting at national/international conferences and writing manuscripts. The Principal Investigator will closely work with the successful candidate for training in all of these aspects, and the candidate will be encouraged to apply for independent postdoctoral fellowship grants within 2 years.

Solid analytical skills and attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with common laboratory equipment and techniques required
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments
Motivation to develop an independent research project, in addition to the assigned projects.
Special Requirements Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation, required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.
