ADMINISTRATIVE REPRESENTATIVE II (Customer Service Representative II)
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.
DEPARTMENT : Finance HOURS OF WORK : Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm LOCATION : City Hall – 632 W 6th Ave, 3rd Floor Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting)
may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work per P&P 40‑40.
To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.
Responsibilities The Administrative Representative II will serve as the primary point of contact for customer service at the front counter, via email, and over the phone. This position performs a full range of office clerical tasks, including initiating customer contact by phone or business letter when pertinent information or documentation is required. The role includes processing address change requests and explaining the necessary requirements for real property ownership updates. The representative will also assist the public in understanding the requirements for residential, senior citizen/disabled veteran, military service, and widower exemptions. Responsibilities further include maintaining, filing, copying, and scanning all necessary documents for current and historical data; receiving, date‑stamping, and distributing incoming division mail and routing it to the appropriate department on a daily basis. The representative will provide all aspects of project support to division supervisors and coworkers, such as retrieving records for public records requests, retrieving an exemption application, or organizing records such as exemption application. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Two (2) years of customer service experience or equivalent.
Background check including criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Alaska Association of Assessing Officers (AAAO) Assessment Administration.
Precedence given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. Successful AMEA applicants will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to non‑AMEA applicants.
