Job Summary The Treatment Advocate will observe clients’ daily activities, assist in their recovery, and collaborate with the Treatment team. Responsibilities include coordinating services, operating company vehicles to transport clients and visitors, and ensuring comprehensive care.

Duties and Responsibilities

Welcome new patients and provide program orientation.

Conduct patient belongings search upon admission.

Complete safety rounds and security checks.

Coordinate patients’ daily schedule, treatment meetings, and behavioral observations.

Provide support and encouragement to patients and facilitate group, individual, and family counseling.

Assist clinical and nursing services as assigned.

Participate in weekly treatment team meetings and program staff meetings.

Ensure documentation meets contract, licensure, accreditation, and AAC documentation policy guidelines.

Communicate efficiently across departments to ensure quality patient care.

Support services for outpatient and inpatient adult populations.

Identify potentially harmful situations and report concerns to the Clinical Manager and/or CEO.

Understand and abide by state department standards, facility accreditation, and AAC policy and procedures.

Adhere to company code of ethics and maintain professional boundaries with patients.

Respect patient rights and unique recovery needs.

Communicate with staff, patients, and families using excellent written and verbal skills.

Demonstrate dependability and adaptability with patients and staff.

Maintain confidentiality of patient and company information.

Abide by HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 guidelines.

Monitor and manage patient community as a therapeutic milieu.

Intervene in crisis situations to deescalate and resolve crises.

Comply with local traffic regulations and report delays or accidents.

Load/unload baggage or express checked by passengers.

Perform miscellaneous errands (e.g., store runs, mail deliveries).

Makes overnight drives and extended trips requiring irregular hours.

Keep vehicle clean, polished, and in operating condition.

Meet and greet clients during transports, maintaining a professional demeanor.

Answer client questions during transport to orientate them before facility arrival.

Perform tasks assigned by direct supervisor within scope of practice.

Education & Experience

High‑school diploma or GED required.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences, social sciences, human services, counseling, or psychology preferred.

Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record required.

Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.

Minimum of 1 year experience in a behavioral health care field preferred.

Knowledge of electronic health record software and documentation preferred.

Ability to read, write, and interpret written information; type documentation; present information to groups; participate in meetings.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Must be able to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, use hands/fingers, talk/hear and smell continuously; stand, walk, and reach frequently; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally.

Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 25 lbs occasionally.

Close vision for computer monitor, documents, and copy/fax machine; distance vision for driving.

Work environment indoors and climate controlled; occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

Moderate noise levels typical of business offices with printers, televisions, dishwashers, and light traffic.
