Job Summary The Treatment Advocate (TA) observes clients’ daily activities and assists in their recovery. Afghanistan collaborates with the treatment team to coordinate services and provides transport using the company vehicle for clients and visitors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Welcome new patients and assist with orientation of program schedule and rules.

Conduct patient belongings searches upon admission.

Complete safety rounds and security checks.

Coordinate patient’s daily schedule, including treatment meetings,riad behavior interventions, and general observation of participation.

Provide support and encouragement to patients and encourage participation in group, individual, and family counseling services.

Support clinical and nursing services as assigned.

Participate in weekly treatment team meetings and program staff meetings.

Ensure documentation meets contract, licensure, accreditation, and standards in a timely manner per AAC’s documentation policy guidelines.

Communicate efficiently with other departments to ensure the best care for patients.

Provide supportive services to outpatient and inpatient adult populations.

Identify potentially harmful situations and report any patient or safety concerns to the Clinical Manager and/or CEO.

Understand and abide by State Department standards, facility accreditation, AAC’s policy and procedures.

Adhere to company code of ethics and maintain professional boundaries with patients at all times.

Respect patient rights and understand their unique recovery needs.

Communicate with staff, patients, and families using excellent professional written and verbal skills.

Demonstrate dependability and adaptability with patients and staff.

Maintain confidentiality of patient and company information.

Abide by HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 guidelines.

Assist in monitoring and managing the patient community as a therapeutic milieu.

Intervene in crisis situations to deescalate and resolve crises.

Comply with local traffic regulations and report delays or accidents.

Load or unload baggage or express checked by passengers in the baggage compartment.

Perform miscellaneous errands such as store runs for patients, mail to and from the post office.

Make overnight drives and extended trips requiring irregular hours.

Keep vehicle clean, polished, and operating condition.

During all transports, meet and greet clients professionally and greet new clients during transit to orient them before arriving at the facility.

Answer any questions from new clients during transport.

Other tasks as assigned by direct supervisor within scope of practice.

Education / Experience

High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Behavioral Sciences (social sciences, human services, counseling, or psychology).

Valid Driver’s License with an insurable driving record.

Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.

Minimum of one year experience in a behavioral healthcare field preferred.

Knowledge of utilizing electronic health record software and documentation preferred.

Ability to read, write, and interpret written information, type documentation, present information to groups, and participate in meetings.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Must be able to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, use hands and fingers, talk or hear, and smell continually.

Ability to stand, walk, and reach frequently.

Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally.

Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

Analyzer vision required to see computer monitor, read documents, and operate copy and fax machine. Distance vision required to drive an automobile if driving is a job requirement.

Work environment is indoors and climate controlled. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
