Job Summary / Basic Function Under the supervision of the Accommodation Specialist, the Notetaking Lead facilitates notetaking accommodations for students with disabilities in the Disability Services department. The Lead Notetaker will also be assigned to a class as needed, to take notes for students with accommodations for notetaking. This includes taking detailed, clear, and accurate lecture notes and other information presented via in‑person or virtual academic settings. The role ensures notes are adequate in content, identifying key points and relevant information.

The Notetaking Lead reviews student requests for notetakers each semester, coordinates with the ASL Interpreting Specialist for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, schedules notetakers, documents appointments in the student database, contacts faculty regarding volunteer or peer notetakers, ensures volunteers receive gift cards at semester’s end, finds substitutes when notetakers are unavailable, and may fill in for other notetakers as needed. The Lead trains notetakers for consistency of service, sends follow‑up emails, and maintains communication with the Accommodation Specialist regarding any questions or concerns.

Disability Services encourages student workers to pursue their education and is flexible with school schedules. The position may require a notetaker to travel to other satellite campus locations as needed.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma

Strong English language skills (spoken and written)

Dependable, consistently on time, able to work with little supervision

Able to travel to other campus locations as needed

Work Study preferred

Background Check: No

Preferred Qualifications

Strong organization and communication skills

Some college experience preferred. Completion of English 1010 or equivalent.

Experience taking comprehensive and quality notes in high school and/or college. Experience taking notes for others is beneficial but not required.
