What a Dental Hygienist Does The role revolves around conducting initial patient screenings, cleaning teeth, and advising on oral health and preventative care. You help dentists decide treatments for teeth or gum diseases, build trust with patients of all ages, and maintain knowledge of health & safety rules.
Responsibilities Include
Ensure patients feel comfortable before their examination
Sterilize dental instruments properly
Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries, or periodontitis
Clean and protect patients’ teeth (remove plaque or apply fluoride)
Educate patients on proper teeth care
Give instructions after operations or other procedures
Take X‑rays or dental impressions
Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments
Maintain documentation and patient charts
Monitor supplies
Qualifications / Skills
Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist or similar role
Dental Hygiene license required
In‑depth knowledge of health and safety regulations (HIPAA)
Experience preparing and maintaining dental equipment
Outstanding communication skills
Patient and friendly personality
Attention to detail
Stamina for physical demands
Diploma in Dental Hygiene (preferred)
Job Type Part‑time, Full‑time
Pay $55.00 - $65.00 per hour
