Job Summary Under general supervision, responsible for registered nursing duties of average difficulty based on a wide range of circumstances and performs related work as required. Duties include nursing assessment and diagnosis, care planning, implementation, and evaluation. The role may involve work days, evenings, nights, and weekends in various health care settings.
Qualifications
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice in Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
Valid motor vehicle operator license may be required.
Responsibilities
Provides nursing care and procedures according to physician orders and nursing protocol, including administering medication, evaluating side effects and effectiveness, maintaining health care equipment and supplies, tracking drugs and instruments, performing basic life support, CPR, and participating in emergency response settings.
Performs initial and ongoing assessments according to protocol, collecting patient and family health history data and performing diagnostic tests to determine patient health status.
Compares assessment data to established acceptable ranges to identify abnormalities and determines if patient goals and interventions are effective.
Documents, completes, and maintains patient health and medication records, making adjustments to the plan of care as needed.
Explains tests, procedures, and results to appropriate individuals within protocol; communications may be with both internal and external entities.
Educates patients, families, individuals, groups, and others about the health care plan as appropriate.
