The Clark County Social Services Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Social Worker I/II position. As a member of our team, you will conduct casework interviews with clients and their family members to obtain information for formulating program/service eligibility and case status. You will identify social, economic and physical needs of clients; assess client’s support systems, available community resources and other factors to plan, develop, and implement an appropriate service plan. In this position, you will also refer clients to appropriate agencies and resources, and advocate for or assist the client in obtaining such services. You will provide basic intervention, and client and family counseling, as needed. This role requires preparation of complete and accurate case notes and other written correspondence, such as reports, statistics, and summaries.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Social Worker I: $30.38 - $44.84

Social Worker II: $32.77 - $48.43

The Social Worker I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non‑competitively promoted to Social Worker II.

State of Nevada Social Worker license required.

Education and Experience Social Worker I

- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a field related to the work. An internship or fieldwork related to the profession is desirable or a field related to the work.

Social Worker II

- In addition to the above, two (2) years of full‑time professional level casework experience in a social service agency. Possession of an advanced degree in social work may be substituted for one of the years of experience outlined above.

Licensing and Certification Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver’s License at time of appointment. Must possess a valid license as a Social Worker in the State of Nevada at time of application.

Background Investigation Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Pre‑Employment Drug Testing Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre‑employment drug examination.

Responsibilities

Conduct casework interviews with clients, family members, service providers, employers and others to obtain information for formulating program/service eligibility and case status.

Identify social, economic and physical needs of clients; assess client’s support systems, available community resources and other factors to plan, develop, and implement an appropriate service plan.

Utilize agency guidelines, state, and federal regulations to determine/confirm eligibility for programs and services.

Refer clients to appropriate community medical, emotional, economic and social support organizations; advocate for or assist the client in obtaining such services.

Provide basic intervention and client and family counseling as required.

Prepare complete and accurate case notes; write correspondence, reports and other written materials; may prepare statistical reports and summaries.

Explain agency and program rules, regulations and procedures; assist clients in completing required forms and in gathering necessary documentation.

Confere with other departmental professional and supervisors regarding cases and scheduling to coordinate activities; participate in in‑service training.

Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.

Use standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of work.

Drive a personal or County motor vehicle to attend meetings and make site visits.

Physical Demands & Accommodation Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, and to drive a motor vehicle in order to attend meetings or visit client homes; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
