position.
Responsibilities:
Utilize nursing skills to carry out the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, evaluation, documentation and time management.
Ensure quality communication, teamwork and leadership/professionalism.
Direct, coordinate, and implement patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
Assume responsibility as Charge Nurse, PI Activity and department initiatives, communicate and share information to Director/Designee and co‑workers from unit or hospital committee, Valley Health paid Education/Seminar/Conference workshop or Nursing Article. Portfolio is current and submitted annually by March 1.
Solicit and validate patient/family satisfaction, participate in peer review for unit, develop educational poster/bulletin board for staff/patients/family members.
Qualifications:
Meets all requirements of a RN I.
Competent to provide care based on cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development.
Competent to provide care using the nursing process.
Reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.
Education:
Associate’s Degree in Nursing (RN Diploma, ASN or ADN) is required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 1872 full‑time or part‑time hours (936 if holding BSN) of RN experience and completion of a performance evaluation.
Certification & Licensure:
RN License is required (Virginia board; multi‑state or single‑state license).
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required. New hires must have American Heart Association certification prior to orientation.
Relevant Specialty Certification is preferred.
