Job Summary and Qualifications The LPN is responsible for adhering to VOA Mid-States policies and procedures, as well as the regulations and guidelines of the Kentucky Board of Nursing, while supporting the Recovery Support Technicians (RSTs). The primary responsibility of the RST is to ensure the safety and security of the program and its clients. In this role, the LPN will assist clients with medication observation and use nursing judgment to determine when a client requires medical attention or emergency services. The LPN will report directly to the RN Clinical Manager. Additionally, the LPN will guide and provide oversight to the RSTs in completing their tasks and meeting shift expectations to ensure client safety. When assisting the RSTs, the LPN will report any concerns related to their tasks or expectations to the Program Manager and Director.

What you should have for this role

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; two years of post‑secondary education preferred.

Active LPN license in good standing with no restrictions through the Kentucky Board of Nursing.

Two years of prior experience in a treatment facility, or comparable specialized knowledge and experience, preferred.

Valid driver’s license and a good driving record required.

Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

Maintain operational control of the facility in the absence of senior staff.

Ensure client compliance with Volunteers of America policies and house rules.

Ensure that chronologically written records of all events occurring during the shift are completed by the RST on duty.

Maintain the client sign‑in/sign‑out log.

Assist with medication administration times at each location and ensure accurate documentation of medication observation within the EMR/EMAR.

Monitor the number of clients in the facility and observe their behavior hourly.

Complete all required documentation, including vital signs, medication transcription, and nursing notes as indicated or in accordance with best practice.

Attend required training sessions and clinical supervision.

Provide clinical oversight and guidance to the RST when clients require transportation to doctor appointments, urgent care, or the emergency room.

Observe and report maintenance needs and safety hazards.

Complete Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) duties as assigned by supervision and the PQI Committee, as delegated by the RN Manager.

Educate clients on medication use, potential side effects, and related health information.
