Position Summary The
Dietary Manager
oversees all aspects of food service operations, ensuring safe, nutritious, and compliant meal service for patients, staff, and visitors. This role manages dietary staff, coordinates with clinical teams, and ensures adherence to regulatory standards, including state, federal, and Joint Commission requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, train, and schedule dietary staff to ensure efficient daily operations
Oversee meal planning, food preparation, and service delivery in accordance with physician‑ordered diets and nutrition guidelines
Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and infection‑control standards
Maintain inventory, order supplies, and manage vendor relationships
Collaborate with clinical and nursing teams to support patient dietary needs
Conduct regular audits of kitchen operations, equipment, and documentation
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and quality‑improvement initiatives
Manage departmental budget and control food and labor costs
Ensure a positive, supportive, and safe environment for staff and patients
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's in Nutrition, Food Service Management, or related field preferred
Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory experience in food service, preferably in healthcare or behavioral health
Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or the ability to obtain certification preferred
Strong knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety regulations, and sanitation standards
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage competing priorities
Schedule & Work Environment
Full‑time position
Hospital setting with direct interaction with clinical teams and patients
Must be able to stand, lift, and move throughout the shift
