Overview
The I&E Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems on industrial projects. This role involves supervising a team of technicians, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and coordinating with other trades to ensure the successful completion of projects.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a team of I&E technicians, electricians, and instrument technicians.
Assign tasks, provide guidance, and ensure that work is completed efficiently and according to specifications.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide training and development opportunities for team members.
Oversee the installation, calibration, and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems, including control panels, motors, switches, sensors, and other components.
Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and specifications.
Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Enforce safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
Conduct safety meetings and training sessions for team members.
Perform safety inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, maintenance team, and other trades to schedule work activities and ensure timely completion of projects.
Communicate project updates, deadlines, and requirements to the team.
Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
Monitor work quality and ensure that all installations and repairs meet industry standards and client expectations.
Conduct inspections and tests to verify the functionality and reliability of electrical and instrumentation systems.
Address any deficiencies or non-conformities promptly and implement corrective actions as needed.
Maintain accurate records of work activities, including work orders, maintenance logs, inspection reports, and equipment manuals.
Prepare reports for management and clients as required.
Ensure compliance with all relevant documentation and record-keeping requirements.
Requirements
Previous experience in electrical and instrumentation work, with at least 8 to 10 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems.
Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, such as NEC, NFPA, and ISA.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Strong commitment to safety and quality.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Additional certification or training in electrical/instrumentation technology required.
