SUMMARY: The Operations Manager Directs, manages, and optimizes the overall performance of the Creative Foam facility. Builds policies and processes and makes decisions guiding productivity, quality, and cost efficiency of plant operations. Establishes systems to collect metrics, analyze productivity, and set performance targets that are in line with company goals. Leads the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement, while ensuring robust plant safety and security procedures that follow all required regulations.
Essential Functions
Oversees activities aimed at increasing productivity and reducing costs.
Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Confers with planning and design staff concerning the product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
Confers with customers and vendors to determine product specifications and evaluates products accordingly to specifications and quality standards.
Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs.
Confers with other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Analyzes blueprints, inquiries, specifications, proposals, and documentation to prepare material and labor estimates for products, projects, or services, applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes.
Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and operations plan.
Analyzes the department budget requests and allocates an operating budget.
Develops and implements capital investment plans.
Leads, manages, and holds accountable department activities to achieve KPIs.
Fosters a productive and safe work environment.
Has the ability to recruit, develop, train, recognize, and retain talented members.
Serves as profitability owner for organizational production process.
Responsible for regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
Develops and maintains safety initiatives, proper PPE usage, and good housekeeping practices.
Exhibits excellent analytical, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.
Is highly organized and detail oriented.
Articulate, very comfortable presenting and leading calls with management.
Has vast knowledge of Lean Continuous Improvement processes.
Communicates effectively all directives, policies, or procedures to managers.
Conducts meetings with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale of the staff.
Has full authority for personnel decisions and may have some impact on departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change.
Projects a positive image of the organization to internal employees, external customers, and the community.
Education and/or Experience
10+ years Operations experience desired.
10+ years leadership desired.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge of foam, fabrication, and the medical device field preferred.
