General Purpose The Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance Manager will work as a member of the Ross Legal and Compliance team, as part of the New York‑based Legal group. The role assists in developing and implementing product safety/compliance projects, initiatives, trainings and processes. It also handles the investigation and preparation of responses to agency requests, manages state reporting obligations, and updates stakeholders on compliance, regulatory, environmental and risk management topics.
Reports to the Vice President, Compliance & Regulatory Counsel and works directly with internal and external partners, including legal counsel, vendors, buying agents, testing labs, merchants, operations, planners and supply chain specialists.
The base salary range for this role is $108,800 – $165,950. The range is one component of the total compensation package.
Essential Functions
Provide accurate, practical and relevant advice on product safety, regulatory compliance and testing protocols.
Research and drive results on regulatory matters, investigations, ad‑hoc inquiries and compliance projects.
Develop, maintain and improve product safety compliance processes and SOPs.
Collect, interpret and communicate critical information to support business decisions.
Communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external partners.
Manage compliance initiatives and projects, including testing protocols and federal/state reporting.
Develop presentations, spreadsheets and correspondence for senior management.
Partner and collaborate to build relationships and achieve timely project reporting.
Obtain, develop and maintain reports and summaries on legal matters.

Required Qualifications
3‑5 years of experience in a corporate legal department, law firm, government agency, testing facility or equivalent.
Experience with product safety and regulatory compliance.
Experience with regulatory agencies and testing facilities.
Knowledge of relevant product compliance law.
Strong organizational, time‑management, project‑management and attention‑to‑detail skills.
Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills with a willingness to make recommendations.
Strong research, analytical, drafting and presentation skills.
Capacity to manage large volumes of work in a fast‑paced environment while meeting short deadlines.
Strong business acumen, learning flexibility, interpersonal aptitude, collaboration and humility.
Exceptional critical‑thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint.
Retail business experience.
Ability to travel as needed.
Physical Requirements / ADA Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in‑person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires regular in‑office presence for team interaction, meetings, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. Hybrid work is possible.
