General Purpose The Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance Manager will work as a member of the Ross Legal and Compliance team, as part of the New York-based Legal group. In general, the position will assist in developing and implementing a variety of product safety/compliance-related projects, initiatives, trainings, and processes. This position will also assist handling/supervising the investigation and preparation of responses to agency requests, manage various state reporting obligations, and update business stakeholders on a broad range of topics and projects in the areas of product compliance, regulatory compliance, product safety, environmental, and risk management.
The position will report to the Vice President, Compliance & Regulatory Counsel and will work directly with various internal and external business partners including outside legal counsel, vendor partners, buying agents, third-party testing labs, merchants, operations, planners, supply chain specialists, and others throughout the organization - both independently and in coordination with the broader Legal and business team members.
The base salary range for this role is $108,800 - $165,950. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
Essential Functions
Provide accurate, practical and relevant/valuable advice and guidance related to product safety, regulatory compliance, and product testing protocols
Perform research and assist in driving desired results related to regulatory matters, product/merchant related investigations, ad hoc client inquires, and compliance/regulatory projects
Effectively and efficiently develop, maintain and improve product safety compliance processes and protocols that facilitate continuous improvement and that support/enhance established standard operating procedures
Manage the collection, interpretation, and communication of relevant information needed to assist internal clients in understanding facts, assessing risk, and making sound business decisions as they relate to inquiries, claims, or projects
Communicate (verbal, non-verbal, written) in a clear, crisp, and concise manner with internal and external business partners (including vendors and testing facilities)
Manage various compliance initiatives and projects (including testing protocol development, federal and state reporting obligations)
Develop presentation, spreadsheets, and correspondence intended for senior management
Effectively partner, communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with managers, team members, and business partners to achieve timely reporting on projects, learnings, trends, new laws, and outcomes
Obtain, develop, and maintain reports, summaries, and information needed on legal matters

Qualifications and Special Skills Required Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
3-5 years of experience in a corporate legal department, law firm, government agency, testing facility, or equivalent experience
Experience with product safety and regulatory compliance
Experience with regulatory agencies and testing facilities
Knowledge of relevant product compliance law
Strong organizational, time management, project management, and attention to detail skills
Excellent verbal, non-verbal (listening) and written communication skills with a willingness to make recommendations
Strong research, analytical, drafting, and presentation skills
Experience and/or capacity to manage large volumes of work in a fast-paced environment, while meeting short deadlines
Strong business acumen, learning flexibility, interpersonal aptitude, collaboration, and humility
Exceptional critical thinking skills
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint
Retail business experience
Ability to travel as needed
Physical Requirements/ADA Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer. Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc. Consistent timeliness and regular attendance. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically. This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work. #LI-Hybrid
