Position Summary The Deputy Superintendent of Teaching, Leading & Learning provides dynamic leadership in planning, coordinating, and directing curriculum, professional development, assessment, and instructional services aligned with the Washington State Learning Standards and the Toppenish School District Strategic Plan. This role ensures equity-driven, student-centered instructional practices and builds capacity across all schools and departments. The Director supervises a broad range of district initiatives and ensures a coherent, collaborative approach to continuous improvement across the system.

Qualifications

Minimum of a Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.

Required

Doctorate in Education or related field.

Preferred

Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in public schools.

Required

Valid Washington State Administrator Certification (Principal or Program Administrator) or ability to obtain.

Required

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in administration at the district central office or collegiate level.

Required

Demonstrated experience leading multiple divisions/departments and supervising instructional leaders. Responsible for leading district-wide curriculum & assessment initiatives.

Required

Experience in evaluating principals and/or central office directors.

Required

Knowledge of Washington State Learning Standards and School Improvement Planning.

Preferred

Deep understanding of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment systems aligned to state standards.

Expertise in data-driven decision-making and fostering a culture of data literacy and continuous improvement.

Knowledge of Federal and State Education regulations including Title I, Title III, IDEA, HIB, Section 504, and OSSI accountability requirements.

Strong leadership, organizational, and strategic planning skills.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Proficiency in the use of educational technologies and data systems.

Demonstrates ethical leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to educational equity.

RCW 49.58.110 REQUIREMENTS

Base Contract: $175,000
