AmeriCorps
Overview
The Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) sponsors VISTA projects in organizations throughout the State to empower low‑income communities with support for underserved youth to succeed in school and careers. Opportunities exist in mentoring, education, health, economic development, nutritional education, environmental issues, and families' access to health resources.
Member Duties VISTA Members commit to a year of full‑time service to help organizations increase their capacity to serve more individuals in poverty. Typical responsibilities include:
Recruiting youth and adult volunteers to aid in implementing impactful programs.
Managing volunteers (both adult and youth).
Building community connections to leverage organization resources.
Fundraising and grant writing to build resources.
Developing programs to increase service capacity.
