Job Summary
ALARA Supervisor. This position is responsible for all aspects of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) planning for high exposure maintenance projects, for the planning of radiation protection support activities, and for providing the radiation protection staff with sufficient details to ensure the safe implementation of both online and outage radiation work permits (RWPs) and ALARA plans at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant.
Job Description
Attending project planning meetings where details of projects are discussed, providing ALARA considerations as feedback while attending, and retaining information from discussions which would be useful for RWP and ALARA plan development.
Assisting the assigned outage projects in the development of PowerPoint presentations, which are presented to the Station ALARA Committee (SAC) for exposure budget approvals.
Advocating and championing the need for new ALARA tools and technologies.
Supporting, coordinating and attending scheduled ALARA Committee meetings to provide input and feedback to members of the committee.
Plan, organize, direct and control ALARA staff resources.
Ensure adherence to regulations, policies and procedures.
Ensure RP employees are trained and qualified to perform assigned tasks.
Support and assist in the operation of the Perry Nuclear Power Plant.
Overview assigned projects.
Represent department in committees, meetings, and task forces.
Fully support Emergency Plan.
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements
Shall have at least five years of experience in radiation protection at a nuclear reactor facility.
At least two years of the five years of experience should be related technical training.
A maximum of four years of the five years of experience may be fulfilled by related technical or academic training (ANSI N18.1-1971, Section 4.4.4).
Supervisory experience strongly Preferred.
NRRPT Certification Preferred.
