This role is a contract opportunity for an experienced RN specializing in stepdown care within a trauma surgical unit. The position supports a Level 2 trauma center known for fast-paced, diverse cases requiring acute surgical intervention and close monitoring of post-operative patients. Key Responsibilities: Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the surgical trauma stepdown unit, managing a patient ratio typically 1:4 with a max of 1:5 Monitor and assess patients recovering from trauma, bariatric, vascular, neuro, orthopedic, and general surgeries Administer and manage intravenous therapies including complex medication drips such as amiodarone, heparin, dopaminergic agents, and vasodilators Utilize telemetry and advanced monitoring techniques to track vital signs, respiratory status, and neurological function Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for patient care plans and respond swiftly to changes in patient conditions Document care and assessments accurately within the Meditech electronic medical record system Desired Qualifications: Active RN license with current ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications Experience in trauma, orthopedic, or stepdown nursing highly preferred Proficiency with Meditech or similar EMR systems is advantageous Strong communication skills and ability to adapt in dynamic clinical settings Commitment to teamwork and excellent patient service Location Overview:Situated in a vibrant metropolitan area in Irving, TX, this position offers the chance to work in a reputable trauma center close to major transportation corridors and a range of amenities.
