A nursing opportunity is available in Batavia, NY, offering a contract position on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit with a reputable hospital. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care across a variety of clinical settings, with specific focus on cardiac monitoring and management of complex medical conditions. Key Responsibilities: Deliver nursing care to patients with diverse diagnoses including infections, altered mental status, and those requiring increased level of care. Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and utilize telemetry equipment effectively. Administer IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, and manage cardiac drips without titration. Provide care for feeding tubes, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomies, and utilize external CPAP/BIPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula devices. Collaborate with an in-house phlebotomy team and Patient Care Technicians who assist with vital signs, EKGs, and daily living activities. Chart patient care accurately in Epic electronic medical records. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Current RN license with at least 1 year of experience in a Medical-Surgical or Telemetry setting. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. Ability to float within the scope of practice to Med-Surg units, ICU (stable patients), and ED boarders if needed. Proficiency in managing complex cardiac and respiratory equipment. Adaptability to night shifts, working 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. First-time travel nurses are welcome. No local applicants within 75 miles will be considered. Ability to accommodate a rotating weekend schedule every other weekend. Additional Information:This assignment is predominantly night shifts with a nurse-to-patient ratio typically ranging from 5:1 during days and evenings to 6-7:1 at night. Floating to other related units may be necessary to meet patient care needs. The position requires use of navy and white scrubs and familiarity with Epic charting. Return-to-office policies limit to a maximum of one week during the contract. Pending licenses are not accepted.
