Position Purpose
Assist with the management and oversight of the Finance Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger activities, cash management, and bank reconciliations.
Monitor daily cash flow and manage liquidity to meet operational needs.
Verify and post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records.
Review invoices for accuracy and process payments.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of trial balance and financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
Prepare monthly financial packages including P&L, Balance Sheet, and departmental budget versus actual variance analysis.
Participate in the annual budgeting process, working closely with CFO, Controller, and other senior leadership to develop budget plans.
Prepare and maintain accounting forecasts to assess performance against the budget and adjust, as necessary.
Coordinate 990 tax prep with external CPA firm.
Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting regulations, laws, and tax requirements.
Serve as backup for billing, payroll, and accounts payable processing as needed.
Recommend improvements in accounting processes, accounting systems, and reporting mechanisms to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Minimum Position Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar financial environment.
Proficient in computerized accounting software and Microsoft Office suite of products (word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, etc.)
Must be detail oriented and able to process data with the right balance between accuracy and efficiency.
Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must be organized, flexible and able to multi-task effectively in a fast paced accounting environment.
Must possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Must possess an attitude compatible with the goals and purposes of the National Center for Children and Families.
Physical Demands/Work Environment While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required y this job require close vision working with a computer monitor. While performing the duties of this job, employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. While performing the responsibilities of the employee’s job, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the Human Resources Director will encounter.
