COMPENSATION $173,356.00 -$237,734.00

RESPONSIBILITIES The position is accountable for providing executive level direction and management of the Staten Island Rapid Transit Operating Authority which includes: the delivery of safe, efficient and reliable service to 25,000 daily passengers; the development of short and long-term strategies necessary to improve system performance through the implementation/integration of new technology; provide direction of operations including inspection, testing, repair and maintenance of SIR equipment, facilities and systems; responsible for SIR’s safety program including the development and maintenance of policies and procedures. Responsible for effective management of emergency situations and ensuring appropriate level and type of response by SIR personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Engineering and fifteen (15) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience from an accredited college may be considered in lieu of a degree. Ten (10) years of the required experience must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity.

DESIRED SKILLS

Demonstrated ability to provide executive-level leadership, set short- and long-term strategic direction, and drive organizational performance improvements in a complex transit or transportation environment.

Strong knowledge of rail/transit operations, including inspection, testing, repair, and maintenance of equipment, facilities, and systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery.

Experience leading and coordinating effective responses to emergencies, ensuring appropriate staffing, decision-making, and communication during critical and high-impact situations.

SELECTION METHOD Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, interview and possibly an assessment.

All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
