Job Description Salary: $19.00+ DOE Job Title: Receiving Clerk (Freight & Ground Shipping) Job Summary: Responsible for receiving, inspecting, and verifying incoming freight and ground shipments, ensuring accurate inventory management, and maintaining proper documentation in a warehouse setting.
Key Responsibilities: Unload freight and ground shipments, ensuring all items are received according to the shipping manifest. Inspect incoming shipments for damage, quality, and quantity discrepancies, and report any issues to management. Verify shipment details (e.g., product quantity, description, shipping labels) against purchase orders, packing lists, and invoices. Record data in warehouse management system Update inventory records for received goods and ensure accurate storage in designated warehouse locations. Ensure proper labeling of items and match barcodes or serial numbers to inventory systems. Process returned shipments, inspect items for damage or defects, and initiate return or replacement processes as needed. Communicate with vendors, freight carriers, and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely deliveries. Ensure items are properly staged and prepared for internal distribution to other areas of the warehouse. Follow warehouse safety protocols while handling freight and equipment. Ensure all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) is used. Maintain a clean and organized receiving area to ensure efficient operations and adherence to safety standards.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in receiving, shipping, or warehouse operations is a plus. Familiarity with shipping methods, including freight and ground shipping, and related documentation. Ability to use warehouse management systems and other inventory tools. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to lift heavy shipments and stand or walk for extended periods. Good communication and problem-solving skills to handle discrepancies and issues. Basic math skills for verifying quantities and handling documentation. Ability to lift, move, and carry packages weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods. Work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Work Environment: Warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels. Required to wear appropriate safety gear (e.g., gloves, steel-toed boots, safety vest).
