Systems Engineer Senior

Responsibilities

System Design and Optimization: Develop and optimize system architectures to meet operational requirements, ensuring alignment with USCENTCOM’s needs for reliability and scalability.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Engage with technical stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into robust infrastructure solutions.

Virtualization Management: Oversee the management and configuration of virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper‑V) and ensure smooth integration with the overall infrastructure.

Automation and Scripting: Implement, configure, and maintain automation processes using PowerShell, Ansible, and other tools to streamline infrastructure management.

Security Management: Configure and manage firewalls, access controls, and other security measures to protect the environment from internal and external threats.

Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve complex system issues, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity solutions to ensure operational resilience.

Software and Hardware Integration: Oversee the integration of software and hardware, ensuring compatibility with the existing infrastructure.

Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including design specifications, configuration guides, and operational procedures.

Vendor and Technology Evaluation: Work with vendors to evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and tools into the infrastructure.

Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor systems to identify opportunities for performance, security, and reliability improvements.

Collaboration in Exercises: Support USCENTCOM exercises and ensure the optimal performance of infrastructure during mission simulations.

Additional Responsibilities

Provide engineering support during system deployment and integration projects.

Participate in performance tuning and optimization to maximize system efficiency and uptime.

Research and implement best practices and new technologies to improve system capabilities.

Qualifications

Certification:

DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification (or equivalent)

Experience:

5+ years of related experience

Required Skills:

Extensive experience in systems engineering and infrastructure management.

Strong understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V) and cloud-based solutions.

Expertise in networking protocols, security technologies, and firewalls.

Advanced proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Python) for automation and system management tasks.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues.

Experience in preparing detailed system documentation and operational procedures.

Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools.

Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with cross‑functional teams.

Desired Skills:

Familiarity with USCENTCOM's mission and operations.

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure, particularly in hybrid environments.

Proven ability to design and implement disaster recovery strategies.

Hands‑on experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).

Exposure to continuous integration and deployment of automation platforms.

Required Security clearance level:

TS/SCI

US citizenship required.

$110,500 - $149,500 (subject to experience and location)
