San Diego County Office of Education PASS (Promoting Achievement and Student Success) AmeriCorps Program. PASS AmeriCorps is a mentoring and leadership program for at‑promise youth in gang‑impacted neighborhoods across San Diego County schools (grades 3‑12). We are looking for 35 full‑time members to provide prevention/intervention services at 30 partner schools, including Oceanside, Vista, Valley Center, Escondido, Carlsbad, Spring Valley, and San Diego.

Members will serve individually or in pairs at a partner school, receiving extensive orientation, ongoing support/coaching, weekly/monthly meetings, professional training, career development opportunities, and networking with community partners. The role requires strong motivation, maturity, and a desire to make a positive difference in students’ lives.

Position Details

Full‑time only.

9‑month (October 2025 – June 2026) / 1700‑hour service term.

Serving Monday‑Friday before, during, and after school hours (10 hrs/day). Some weeknight and weekend days.

Member living allowance: $3,333 per month.

Upon successful completion of the service term, full‑time members earn a $7,395 Segal Educational Award and a $2,605 California For All Educational Award (total $10,000). Both awards are taxable income and contingent on final budget appropriation.

Members who relocate for service may be eligible for a relocation reimbursement of up to $300 upon successfully completing the program clearance process and beginning service at their assigned school site.

Qualifications

22 years or older.

Associate degree or higher.

Car highly recommended with driver’s license & insurance.

Preferred 1–2 years’ experience working with youth.

Spanish‑speaking a plus.

Must complete SDCOE and AmeriCorps applications, fingerprinting/background check.

Position availability is contingent upon the PASS AmeriCorps Program‑SDCOE final grant award for FY 2025.
