Job Overview
Payroll & Benefits Specialist at Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (Charleston, SC). Responsible for all benefits administration processes and projects, including vendor management, data accuracy, team member communication, and plan documents. Primary backup for all payroll functions and may take on additional payroll responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
Conduct new-hire benefits orientations and annual open enrollment process.
Perform audits and quality checks of benefits-related data, and develop a plan to reconcile data.
Assist team members regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
Develop a benefits communication plan and materials.
Manage benefits administration system and processes changes.
Respond to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
Process and administer all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
Effectively interpret FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
Respond to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
Point of contact for all payroll functions.
Provide necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
Lead benefits administration projects such as vendor/platform changes.
Apply various rules, laws and regulations to determine appropriate benefits administration processes.
All other duties as assigned.
May act as deputy to run and administer payroll.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field or equivalent experience.
3-5 years of relevant benefits administration experience.
Knowledgeable of administrative practices and procedures as well as laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to employment, benefits, wage and hour, labor relations, etc.
Organizational skills and time management.
Ability to work well with all types of team members.
