Overview The Budget Accountant uses independent judgement and analytical skills in a highly computerized environment to perform monthly preparation and analysis of estimated contractual adjustments, charity and bad debt, Medicare and Medicaid annual cost reports and settlements, annual budgets, Federal/State and Local tax returns, compliance reporting to the state COPN Regulatory Authority, and cost analysis. The role continuously evaluates the theoretical integrity of accounting functions within the department and recommends or implements improvements based on analysis.
Responsibilities
Complete complex accounting analysis requiring the application of accounting theory independently.
Monthly preparation and analysis of estimated contractual adjustments, charity and bad debt, Medicare and Medicaid annual cost reports, and settlements with independent judgement.
Preparation and maintenance of annual budgets, Federal/State and Local tax returns, reporting to the state COPN Regulatory Authority, and cost analysis.
Interpret and communicate federal and state regulations; manage and assess priorities and deadlines with independent judgement.
Assess the theoretical integrity of accounting functions performed in the area of responsibility and recommend/improve solutions.
Serve as a liaison with regulatory and taxing agencies, external consultants, auditors, and RHS leadership and administrators.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance/Business with a concentration in Accounting (Required)
Master’s Degree or related field (Preferred)
Minimum 1 year of accounting experience with analysis/budget/financial statement responsibilities (Required)
Prior experience in Healthcare Accounting/Finance (Preferred)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – The AICPA (Preferred)
Skills
Excellent Excel skills, heavy use of Pivot tables and advanced formulas.
Business operations, account reconciliation, financial statements.
Compensation & Schedule Salary: $39.99 – $40 per hour Shift: First Work hours: 8 AM – 5 PM
