Information Technology Applications Analyst/PACS Analyst
The IT Applications Analyst (ITAA) works under the direction of the IT Senior Manager (ISM) and the Vice President of Technology to provide support to radiology and medical imaging systems and applications across Radiologic Associates of Fredericksburg, Ltd (RAF) and all affiliated entities, hereafter referred to as the “Practice”.
Major Duties & Responsibilities System & Technical Support
Works with radiologists and IT team to support and maintain diagnostic workstations and third-party applications, including basic PC support, servers, and network troubleshooting.
Supports system performance issues urgently and communicates updates/resolutions.
Supports installation of new DICOM modality connections by analyzing HL7 interface messages.
Supports PACS/RIS interfaces with other clinical systems and affiliate institutions.
Participates in application/system upgrades, testing, patch installations, and infrastructure changes.
Project & Application Management
Assists in support of radiology and medical imaging systems projects (EMR, PACS, RIS, voice recognition, billing/reporting, etc.).
Participates in evaluation of new products, proof of concepts, and needs assessments.
Supports creation and maintenance of departmental informatics standard operating procedures.
Workflow & Optimization
Supports radiologists, technologists, and stakeholders in optimizing PACS and IT workflows.
Serves as a resource for practice applications across multiple platform interfaces.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Communicates and tracks internal and third-party service tickets.
Maintains positive working relationships with affiliated healthcare entities and IT organizations.
Supports new account setups, onboarding, and training for physicians/staff.
Completes monthly invoicing and payment tracking of PACS/VNA clients.
Prepares reports on quality measures, performance metrics, or department goals.
Operational Coverage & Travel
Travel to offices and hospitals in the region.
Supports evening/weekend coverage for mission-critical systems, including routine call.
Miscellaneous / Other Duties
Assumes other duties as required by supervisor.
Compliance & Regulatory
Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, standards, and protocols.
Supports QC initiatives for continuous quality improvement.
Ensures patient confidentiality & HIPAA compliance in all communications & technology use.
Maintains awareness of compliance responsibilities & reports any known violations or concerns.
Adheres to immunization compliance according to federal, state, & organizational standards.
Upholds all policies outlined in the Practice’s Compliance Program & Code of Conduct.
Qualifications Education and Experience
Experience with radiology processes, procedures, and workflows in a hospital/clinical setting.
Minimum of two years’ experience with configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrading, and supporting clinical imaging applications including PACS and DICOM Gateways.
Knowledge and experience with EMR, RIS, voice recognition system, DICOM modality worklists, integrated workflows, networks, typical HL7 integration and messaging, XML, HTML, medical modalities, image transmission, and remote support.
CIIP Certification obtained within 1 year of employment.
Minimum two years’ experience supporting IT project implementation preferred.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

Frequent computer use, including keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
Occasional stooping, bending, and crawling into small spaces.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
