Job Description
The IT Systems Architect will be responsible for Cloud & System Design and Architecture, which includes creating comprehensive IT cloud infrastructure and system architecture solutions that align with the organization’s business goals and technical requirements. This position will also be responsible for Technology Integration by ensuring seamless integration of new technologies with existing systems, enabling smooth operation and future scalability.
This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule after an initial probationary period and individual approval.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Essential Duties
Security and Compliance: Design secure IT environments that comply with regulatory standards and best practices, safeguarding data and systems.
Strategic IT Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop long‑term technology strategies that support business growth and innovation.
Cloud Infrastructure Design: Architect cloud environments that are scalable, secure, and highly available, aligning with the organization’s goals and technical requirements.
Cloud Migration Planning: Develop detailed migration plans for moving existing applications and data to cloud platforms with minimal disruption to business operations.
Security Implementation: Ensure robust security controls are in place to protect cloud systems, including identity management, encryption, and data access policies.
Cost Management: Optimize cloud resources to minimize costs, implementing strategies like autoscaling and selecting appropriate pricing models for services.
Performance Monitoring: Set up monitoring tools to track system performance, identify bottlenecks, and ensure cloud resources are utilized efficiently.
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Design and implement disaster recovery solutions to ensure data and services are protected and quickly recoverable in the event of an outage.
Collaboration with Development Teams: Work closely with software engineers and IT teams to design, deploy, and maintain cloud‑based solutions that meet application requirements.
Compliance and Governance: Ensure that cloud solutions comply with industry standards, regulations, and internal governance policies, including data privacy and protection laws.
Automation and Orchestration: Implement cloud automation and orchestration frameworks to streamline deployment, configuration, and management of cloud resources.
Documentation and Training: Create and maintain documentation on cloud architectures, configurations, and processes, and provide training to teams on cloud best practices.
Public Speaking Duties
Communication skills associated with collaborative efforts for projects, tasks, troubleshooting and presentations:

This job is a civilian position in either a public safety department or in Information Technology with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, and fingerprinting.
This job is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule after an initial probationary period and individual approval.
Grade The grade for this position is D61(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science/Engineering, Information Systems, or related field AND
Seven years progressively responsible, professional level security and compliance experience in a large‑scale Information Technology environment
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of four years of experience with Cloud Architecture Design, Configuration, Implementation, Migrations and Administration
Certifications in any of the following: Azure Fundamentals, Azure Associate, Azure Administrator/Architect, Microsoft Server Operating Systems / Active Directory
